SALI Third Party Liability Group 

The SALI insurance program is available only to Home Studio, Professional and Business Associate members.   Please apply only when your membership is at the appropriate level.


Membership in SALI provides members with access to a third-party liability insurance group Policy [SALI Liability Group Plan] underwritten by Scottsdale Insurance Company.  This insurance is provided through Kuhlke Insurance Services. The brochure on these services can be found here, and SALI Members can reference the website www.sali-insurance.com to learn more. At the time of writing, 824 members have their liability coverage through this program.   SALI does not receive commission or other income from the sale of this insurance.  

ELIGIBILITY:

To be eligible for this coverage your membership level must be at Home-based, Professional member or a Business Associate membership in SALI in good standing, and work in the United States.  Please note that coverage is not available in Oregon.

COVERAGE:

The policy provides up to $1,000,000 per claim, with a $3,000,000 aggregate limit and a $250.00 per claim deductible, for third-party bodily injury or property damage liability coverage.  The policy also provides $10,000 per claim, to a $25,000 aggregate limit, for client’s property in the care and custody of SALI members.  Coverage is provided for events that occur during the paid-up policy period. 

The policy does not cover the insured if they hurt themselves.  For example, if you fall off a ladder on a work site and hurt yourself, you are not covered under this Policy nor is your work if the ladder damaged some of your work.  This Policy will cover the damage the ladder caused to your client or to your client’s property.

Coverage is provided for anyone who works exclusively for the named insured and only under his or her tradestyle.  Anyone else is considered a sub-contractor and needs to have their own insurance. 

COST:

The policy premium is much lower than when written through an individual policy.  It has a flat fee premium, non-prorated if you join during the policy period.  The Policy renewal date is November 1st of each year.  You may join at any time and pay the annual $312 premium for the period to November 1st.  The best time to obtain insurance is, of course, before you start to do work at a client’s premises.

With a group plan you do not receive an individual Policy document.  You do receive a Certificate of Liability Insurance as part of the SALI Liability Group.  If you require coverage information, please print out the Coverage Form on this web site.  If you require a copy of the full Group Policy, the SALI Office will mail you it to you for a $30.00 fee.

To apply for insurance, complete the application form on this web site and mail it with your check to the address on the form.   Please do not leave your application to the last moment as processing does take time.  Send the application form only if your membership qualifies you eligible for coverage.  Find your SALI membership number and membership renewal date located on the mailing label of The Artistic Stenciler.Contact the SALI office at 505-865-9119  if you need to change your membership type.
